Frequently asked questions
Pool safety certificates are valid for 1 year for shared pools and 2 years for non-shared pools.
A little preparation goes a long way in helping your pool inspection run smoothly. Here's what to do before your inspector arrives:
Ensure clear access — Make sure the pool area, fence, gates and barriers are easily accessible so the inspector can complete their assessment without delays.
Check gates and latches — Pool gates must open away from the pool, self-close and self-latch every single time. Test yours before the inspection.
Remove climbable objects — Clear anything near the pool fence that could be used to climb over it, such as pot plants, chairs, boxes or pool equipment.
Inspect fencing and barriers — Walk the perimeter and look for loose panels, gaps, damaged sections or broken gate hardware. Fixing obvious issues beforehand could save you a re-inspection fee.
Have your property details ready — This includes the property address, owner details and pool registration number (if applicable).
Use our DIY Pool Compliance Checklist — Review common non-compliance issues before your appointment so you know what to expect.
